Transistor

The term 'Transistor ' as it applies to the area of nanotechnology can be defined as ' A solid-state electronic device based on a semiconductor material that regulates the flow of current between two of its electrodes and therefore is capable of amplifying a signal. Since its invention in 1948, the transistor has become constantly smaller (recently entering the nanoscale) and more efficient, serving as the basis of most electronic devices, including computers'.
